Is The PS4 Controller Waterproof?

The DualShock 4 is a fantastic controller loved by gamers the world over, but is it waterproof in any way? I decided to research the internet and find out.

The PS4 controller is not waterproof at all its internal components such as the 3.5 mm headphone jack and USB charging port are exposed to water getting in making the controller to not work.

Immediately stop using your controller and unplug all cables
Remove the PS4 controller’s battery using a screwdriver
Disassemble the controller and clean ever part with a 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a small brush.
Check for burned or missing components
After it is clean replace the battery and reassemble your PS4 controller
Re-evaluate your controller and see what works.

How Durable Are PS4 Controllers?

PS4 controllers are made out of a good quality plastic and rubber mix that makes the controller is quite durable from accidental drops and throws. Usually a Dual shock 4 will last anywhere between 1-3 years of heavy use, with the triggers and L3 buttons having problems first.

However truthfully the durability of DualShock 4 controllers depend on how you take care of them and what sort of gamer you are.

If you constantly play FPS and use the trigger buttons and crouch down a lot you will encounter more problems then if you mainly played RPGS as the triggers and L3 buttons usually give out first.

I believe the springs under the triggers and L3/R3 buttons are not the best quality, and once they break you need to replace the controller or do a repair yourself which can void your warranty as it is risky.

How long Does It Take To Charge PS4 Controller?

The PS4 controllers charge will depend on how often you use the controller and the environment on where the controller is used and stored. In a hot country past 30 °C and 86 °F this will affect your DualShock battery life just like living in a cooler climate will.

Batteries don’t hold charge as well in colder temperatures, for the DualShock 4 this is temperatures below 10 °C/50 °F, you ever noticed when it’s cold cars are harder to start? Let me explain.

Your DualShock 4’s batteries electric current is created between a connection made by positive and negative terminals, that’s right just like science class! The lower the temperature the slower the chemical reactions between the – and + therefore your battery produces less current.
